My writing journey

Like many writers my love of writing began early and I was a voracious reader.

After a career in advertising, documentary film making and writing non-fiction I trained as an expressive arts therapist and family mediator. In 2020 I decided to re-focus and write fiction full time. I graduated from Stirling University with an MLitt in Creative Writing in 2022.

My writing day starts early. After feeding the two moggies - Kate and Cleo, aka The Editing Team - I love sitting down at my writing desk to travel into a world of words.

I take a wander through dreams, thoughts and imaginings which are the roots from where my stories come alive.

My writing is character centred. In many ways their stories tell our stories, encouraging us to reach deep inside ourselves.

My quarterly newsletter gives readers a peek behind the scenes. Sometimes creativity flows clearly like a Scottish burn, other times there are struggles and conflicts between me and my characters.

If you choose to dip into one of my books please let me know. I love to hear from readers - constructive criticism and compliments are both welcome.

I also love to support other writers - if you are a writer or want to be a writer please get in touch.
